Yes, you’ve read that right. The 1975 have cancelled their European tour dates due to “unforeseen circumstances”. They were supposed to start the 16 date European tour and then continue to North America, but this is seemingly all postponed. Even though the guys have never mentioned/released any sort of statement on specific reason why, their label Dirty Hit Records have twitted this:
So, fret not my friends, they will be announcing new dates and venues in the next 48 hours. So, fingers crossed all of you who want to see them live, get their hands on some tickets! 🙂
As for myself, I did not buy a ticket for the old date for the Vienna show, because it was impossible for me to go due to work, but maybe a new date would be more convenient… hopefully.
Also, since nothing was specifically said about the reasons why, a lot of fans are arguing that this was because of the Brit Awards on 22nd February. That makes sense because they are nominated in two categories, Best British Group and Best British Album.
And, they are performing! For the first time ever!
Will keep this post updated once new dates are announced.
The 1975 and their label have kept their promise and announced new dates for the European tour. So, instead in February , the tour will now be in June with one added date in July, and that one is in Vienna. 🙂 Maybe I will be going after all. Plus it is outside, so no excessive sweating and dehydration for me, yay!
Here is the complete list of re-scheduled dates:
